Poe removed Knowledge Bases in May 2026. Paste skill content into your bot prompt — SKILL.md plus key references.

Reference files

Bot prompts have size limits. You cannot paste an entire skill folder — prioritize SKILL.md and the most important reference files. Claude or ChatGPT native Skills upload handles full folders properly.

    Download and unzip a topic pack

    Pick one or two skills you use most. Open the folder and review all files inside.

  2. 2

    Open your bot in Bot Studio

    Create or edit a prompt bot at creator.poe.com.

  3. 3

    Paste skill content into the system prompt

    Copy SKILL.md (below the YAML frontmatter) plus essential content from references/ and evals/ into the bot prompt. You cannot fit a whole folder — trim to what the bot needs.

  4. 4

    Add routing instructions

    Tell the bot when to use each block — e.g. “For Reels scripts, follow the reels-script section. For captions, follow caption-writer.”

  5. 5

    Test and trim

    Run a few realistic prompts. If the bot drifts, shorten pasted instructions to the essential workflow steps.

Tips

  • Back up any files from old Knowledge Bases — Poe deleted KB files after May 25, 2026.
  • For many skills, Claude or ChatGPT native Skills upload is a better fit than stuffing Poe prompts.
